What is Canesten Combi?

Canesten Combi is a treatment that combines internal and external creams to combat vaginal thrush. It helps relieve itching and discomfort while also addressing the root cause of the infection, providing targeted relief when you need it most.

What is thrush?

Vaginal thrush is a common yeast infection that affects many women at some point in their lives. It’s caused by Candida, a harmless yeast that naturally lives in the vagina and other areas of the body. Normally, your body maintains a healthy balance of Candida, but when this balance is disrupted, the yeast can multiply and cause thrush. Common symptoms include itching, irritation, and redness around the vagina.

How does Canesten Combi work to treat thrush?

Canesten Combi includes two creams, an internal cream and an external cream, both containing the antifungal ingredient clotrimazole. This active ingredient works to treat the infection at its source while relieving external symptoms like itching and irritation.

How to use Canesten Combi.

The pack includes two creams:

• Internal cream:
  Remove the applicator from its packaging, attach the plunger, and take off the cap. Insert the applicator as far into the vagina as comfortably possible, similar to inserting a tampon. Press the plunger to release the cream, then remove the applicator.

• External cream:
  Apply a thin, even layer around the entrance of the vagina two to three times a day, as needed.

When should Canesten Combi not be used?

Canesten Combi is not suitable for use by those under the age of 16 or over the age of 60. Canesten Combi should not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole, cetostearyl alcohol, or any of the other ingredients listed. Do not use Canesten Combi if you are on your period, as it may be less effective. Canesten Combi should not be used to treat nail and scalp infections. If you are unsure whether you have thrush or you have had thrush more than twice in six months, do not use Canesten Combi. Do not use Canesten Combi if you or your partner has ever had a sexually transmitted disease.

Like all medicines, Canesten Combi can have side effects, although you may not experience them. If you experience any of the following side effects, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction:

• Rash
• Swelling of the lips, throat, face, or tongue
• Nausea
• Weakness, feeling dizzy or feeling faint
• Swallowing or breathing problems

If you experience any of these side effects, stop using Canesten Combi and seek medical help immediately. If you experience any other side effects, please speak to your doctor or Health Nest pharmacist.
