BronchoStop pastilles are a natural cough remedy which uses herbal ingredients to ease your cough, based on traditional use. BronchoStop pastilles can be used to ease any type of cough, so if you don’t know what type of cough you have or find that your cough can vary between more than one type, these pastilles can take the hassle out of choosing a cough remedy.
This product is non-drowsy and does not contain gluten.
Not all coughs are the same; dry coughs and chesty coughs (also known as mucus coughs) are two common types with distinct causes and symptoms.
A dry cough is typically non-productive, meaning it doesn’t produce any phlegm or mucus. Often described as a tickly cough, it’s usually triggered by irritation or a tickling sensation in the back of the throat, leading to persistent coughing without any mucus being brought up.
In contrast, a chesty cough is a productive cough, meaning it helps to clear mucus or phlegm from the airways. This type of cough is your body’s natural response to congestion in the lungs or throat, aiming to expel excess mucus and relieve blocked airways.
Recognising which type of cough you have can help you choose the most appropriate treatment, whether that’s a soothing remedy for a dry, tickly cough or an expectorant for a chesty, mucus-producing cough.
BronchoStop pastilles contain a herbal ingredient called thyme extract, which is traditionally used as a cough remedy. It can be used as a natural remedy for any type of cough and is particularly popular with those who prefer herbal remedies to medicines.
If you’re taking any other medication, including other herbal remedies and medications obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking BronchoStop. Some products can interact when used together, making your medication less effective or causing unwanted side effects, but a medical professional can help you avoid this.
BronchoStop pastilles are not suitable for use during pregnancy or if you’re breastfeeding. If you have a cough during these times, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist and ask them to recommend another, more suitable treatment.
Take 1 – 2 pastilles every 4 hours, up to 4 times a day. Do not take more than 12 pastilles a day. Let the pastilles dissolve in your mouth and then swallow. If your cough hasn’t improved after 7 days, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
BronchoStop pastilles are not suitable for use in children under the age of 12. Do not take these pastilles if you are allergic to thyme, any other members of the Lamiaceae family (e.g. basil, rosemary, sage), or any of the other listed ingredients. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you have been told that you have an intolerance to some sugars, as this product contains fructose and sorbitol. If you have diabetes mellitus, you should consider that each pastille corresponds to approximately 0.1 carbohydrate units.
Like all medications, BronchoStop pastilles can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. If you experience any of the following side effects, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction and should stop use and seek immediate medical assistance:
