What is Bonjela Adult Gel Used For?

Bonjela Adult Gel is used for the short-term relief of:

• Mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers)
• Sores and irritation caused by dentures or braces
• Cold sores (at the early stage)
• Minor wounds inside the mouth

This gel helps to soothe pain, reduce inflammation, and support healing.

How Does Bonjela Adult Gel Work?

Bonjela Adult Gel contains:

• Choline salicylate (8.714% w/w) – a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps relieve pain and reduce inflammation
• Cetalkonium chloride (0.01% w/w) – an antiseptic that helps prevent infection in the affected area.

This dual-action formula works by numbing the area and reducing swelling while protecting against infection.

Who Can Use Bonjela Adult Gel?

Bonjela Adult Gel is suitable for:

• Adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over

Do not use this product if you:

• Are under 16 years of age, due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome (a rare but serious condition linked to salicylates in children and teenagers).
• Are allergic to salicylates, NSAIDs, or any of the ingredients listed in the product.
• Are currently taking other medicines containing aspirin or similar compounds.

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have a history of stomach ulcers, asthma, or a bleeding disorder
• Are taking blood-thinning medications such as warfarin

How to Use Bonjela Adult Gel

1. Wash your hands before use
2. Apply a small amount (about 1cm) of gel directly to the affected area
3. Massage gently into the sore area
4. Repeat every 3 hours as needed
5. Do not exceed the recommended dose
6. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after application to allow the gel to remain in contact with the area.
