What are Nexium Control tablets?

Nexium Control tablets contain esomeprazole to tackle the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux, also known as indigestion. Esomeprazole is a type of medicine known as a proton pump inhibitor.

How should I take Nexium Control?

The recommended dosage for Nexium Control is one tablet per day. Even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately, it is important that you do not exceed this dose. You may need to take Nexium tablets for 2 or 3 days before your acid reflux symptoms get better, but you must not take them for longer than 14 days. If your acid reflux symptoms do not improve after 14 days, you should consult your doctor for further advice.

You can take Nexium tablets at any time of the day, and it doesn’t matter if you take them with food or on an empty stomach. Swallow whole with water – the medicine will not work if you crush or chew the tablet.

How does esomeprazole treat acid reflux?

These Nexium tablets contain 20mg of esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. Proton pump inhibitors work to relieve acid reflux symptoms by stopping the cells in the lining of the stomach from producing too much acid. By decreasing the amount of acid produced, heartburn and acid reflux symptoms can be relieved and stomach ulcers caused by acid can be prevented.

Do I have acid reflux symptoms?

Acid reflux, or indigestion, is really common and most people are likely to experience symptoms at some point in their lives, usually caused by eating too much spicy or fatty foods. Acid reflux is also extremely common in pregnancy. The main two symptoms of acid reflux to look out for are:

Dyspepsia – pain or discomfort in your upper abdomen

Heartburn – a burning sensation behind your breastbone

Some people suffer from acid reflux symptoms on a long-term basis. These can sometimes be resolved with some lifestyle changes, especially if your symptoms are caused by obesity or smoking. If you have acid reflux symptoms that don’t go away, you should consult your doctor to look for a possible underlying cause.

Is Nexium Control suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

As a precaution, you should preferably avoid taking Nexium tablets if you’re pregnant. You must not take these tablets if you’re breastfeeding. For more information on appropriate acid reflux relief for pregnant and breastfeeding women, contact a doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist.

Can children take esomeprazole?

Nexium tablets should not be used by anyone under the age of 18. If your child or teenager is suffering from acid reflux symptoms, browse our full range of acid reflux treatments or consult a Chemist4U pharmacist for advice.

You are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors
