Buy EMLA Cream 5%

EMLA Cream 5% is an anaesthetic cream used to numb areas of the skin before an injection or a minor procedure.

It is ideal for reducing the pain before a needle, especially for children who are nervous or worried.

How EMLA Cream 5% works

EMLA Cream 5% contains the local anaesthetics lidocaine and prilocaine. They work together to numb the surface of the skin, ensuring that you don’t feel any pain.

You might still be able to feel touch and pressure.

Directions

Always use EMLA Cream 5% exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.

Apply the cream to the skin you want to numb but do not rub the cream in. Place the dressing over the cream with the adhesive side down. Remove the backing paper and smooth down the edges of the dressing.

Leave the dressing in place for 60 minutes, removing it before the procedure.

How much cream you use will depend on what it is being used for. Refer to the patient information leaflet for more information on the amount of cream needed.

Side effects

  • Mild skin reactions
  • Numbness or tingling
